AREA MARINA PROTETTA DI PUNTA CAMPANELLA - The Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella was born on December 12, 1997. It is the first Marine Protected Area to be established in the Campania region, and among the most active on the national scene, so as to have received recognition ASPIM (Areas Specially Protected for Importance of the Mediterranean), since 2010. It is run by a consortium of six areas: Massa Lubrense, Sorrento, Sant'Agnello, Sorrento, Vico Equense and Positano. It covers 1,400 hectares of coastline and about 40 km of coastline, looking out on some of the places considered among the most beautiful in the world: the beautiful Golfo di Napoli e Salerno.

LANDSCAPE - The approximately 40 km of coastline of the Sorrento Peninsula are a succession of green promontories and welcoming inlets. The waters of the "Land of the Sirens", hide enchanting landscapes to discover by diveing. Cliffs overlooking the see are located next to gently sloping bushes; farther out from the bottom suddenly stand out some dry areas, real natural oasis where there are some of the most beautiful underwater landscapes of the Mediterranean. The consortium that protects these beautiful places is made by 6 cities.

THE ENVIRONMENT AND SCUBA DIVING - Paradise for divers and nature photographers this sea contains a wide variety of animals and plants , from the first meters to move towards deeper environments. Every centimeter of rock available is subject to a constant competition for the substrate, tunicates, bryozoans, madreporari, algae, attinie and other organisms are made space between the colorful and varied porypherus. In the background of this enchanting scenery move many species of fish that move frantically in search of food.

SUBMERGED CAVES - For the calcareous nature of the peninsula, the area has been subject to intense karstic phenomena that have produced a considerable number of emerged cavities, which became underwater as a result of tectonic movements and rising sea levels . In the Cave of Cala di Mitigliano, which extends for 80 meters and shallow depth, you can explore the fascinating world of dark underwater caves. Spectacular then the Cave of Zaffiro and the Cave of Isca: after a short underwater path through large openings a few meters depth, you emerge in large caves decorated with lava limestone similar to lace, stalactites and stalagmites of various shapes and colors . Some of them form columns ending in lakes of crystal clear water on which they are implanted under water and sea fans colonies of sea daisies.

THE TRADITIONAL SMALL FISHING - Along the coasts of the peninsula there are at least four "cave crayfish" famous among divers and populated by a special pink shrimp, the parapandalo (Plesionika narval). The succession of cliffs, gorges, cliffs and splits make this its ideal habitat. Given the predilection for these wild environments it is therefore difficult to customary fishing with net, and always using an alternative system, older but equally effective, the lobster pot, made of cane and myrtle twisted to take the shape of a big pumpkin it attracts prey with bait placed inside. It is built entirely by hand by the fishermen, in winter months, when the fishing operation stops.

PROTECTED FAUNA - Many organisms in nature that you can admire during a hike or while doing snorkeling in one of the beautiful bays of the Protected Marine Area of Punta Campanella but some species or habitual passage deserve special mention. More and more frequent are the sightings of large groups of dolphins that are found to fiddle with the prows of boats of the place, accompanying them on their itineraries. For several years now, and this settled along our crags also Seagull course, famous for its "delicious" food habits that define a good bio-indicator of rich and clean waters. And last but not least, more and more often are found specimens of sea turtles Caretta caretta, which sometimes in difficulty are rescued by the Tartanet Center of Punta Campanella, who once cured puts them back into the wild in their natural environment.

HIKING - The nearly 20 square kilometers of territory of Massa Lubrense, despite being surrounded by the sea, are marked by a dense road network which , in some parts , follows the tracks some going back more than 2000 years ago. Some of these streets, in a past not too far away, have been transformed into driveways, while others still retain their primordial nature of the path, trail or, even more simply, dirt path. Walking along these ancient streets you can enjoy beautiful scenery and breathtaking natural, as the Isolotti dei Galli, of De Filippo's Isca and the background the imposing island of Capri so close that sometimes seems able to be touched.

BEACHES, COVES AND BAYS - Many small coves often accessible both by land and sea, which are present in the Protected Marine Area of Punta Campanella. EVENTS, HAPPENINGS AND LOCAL PRODUCTS - The land of the Sirens is a place where the ancient culture meets local traditions often better represented through trade fairs, exhibitions and festivals in the city. Culture and cultured prince of this land, however, remains the lemon, a plant cultivated by traditional methods in gardens with pergolas chestnut covered by the typical "pagliarelle ", built by hand by local artisans. This gives rise to a number of genuine products from jams, oil, sweets up to the famous lemon liqueur "limoncello" imported worldwide.
